A japans tale

Outline

Last time on Johnny Dangerfist: (Assorted clips from episode II)

Introduction (about last time and the coming episode)

Pegasus and its crew took off from Hawaii the next day after the encounter with Wally McBruce and his smugglers. Once again Johnny and Lefty found themselves over the ocean in the fast-moving airship and they began to talk with the crew. Tarkington was obviously displeased with the course of events from the day before, and he and Daedalus were deep in discussion about the upcoming plan of action. Jeffries had replaced the fuel pump and the reactor was working like new. As the Pegasus sped towards Japan, another series of exciting things would overtake our heroes. But what would a boy-adventurer be without his adventures?
(zeppelin flying sounds)
CT: Look Daedalus, im really sorry bout what happened back at the islands. I should have been more careful. I still don’t think we’ve seen the last of McBruce either.
D: Its alright Coyne, its not like we haven’t been in a scrape like that before.
CT: True that. Remember that time with the Zulu chieftain and that stupid cow? I thought we were done for that time.
Johnny: That sounds like a real interesting story Mr. Tarkington!
CT: Not now Johnny, the grownups are talking.
D: Hahaha ah yes, and then there was the time Flex had the janissaries chasing us in Ankara.
MCM: Kyotos is twenty miles off the port bow! five degrees sir.

D: Johnny, we'll be headed to the imperial palace today. I want you to stay behind me and whatever you do, don't say anything to the emperor.

D: Hahaha ah yes, and then there was the time Flex had the janissaries chasing us in Ankara.

(Door slams)
FB: You mean the ones I chased back to the palace later?

CT: Where did you find that machine gun anyways??

FB: I think it was on a biplane on the tarmac. It looked handy so I nabbed it.

D: You are truly ludicrous Flex but im glad to have you along.

(Door opens)

Jeffries: good morning captain! Everythings running smoothly back aft. New fuel pump is a beautiful little one, old girl’s taken a right good liking to her.

D: Very well Jeffries.

Lefty: Who’s a girl Jeffries? I thought Daedalus didn’t allow girls on board?

JD: He’s talking about the zeppelin Lefty. He’s a little weird if you hadn’t noticed.

Jeffries: This is a grownup conversation lads, why don't you go practice your caligraphy.

Johnny: Lefty doesn't know how to write, he's left handed

Jeffries: Well then why don't you teach him!

Johnny: All our pencils are broken. And our sharpener is broken!

Jeffries: Well why don't you too boys go play some jacks.

Lefty: Oh boy jacks! I love jacks! cmon Johnny!

JD: OH alright lefty.

D: Well lets get back to business and plot our course of action. Right now where about here, about to enter Japanese airspace. Im thinking we fly to Shanghai and then Bombay after Kyoto. We should be able to do that no problem. From Bombay it’s a quick jump to Arabia and then Istanbul, where we can

CT: You mean Cairo.

D: What? Why Coyne?

CT: Well its like I told you Daedalus, no one flies over Turkey except the Turks. Its damned unfriendly of them too if you ask me.

Jeffries: He’s right Capn. Those Turks have taken a right poor liking to strangers.

FB: To hell with em Daedalus! We both know we have to go to Istanbul. (pounding fist)

D: Flex, while I agree, I am pretty sure your reasons are entirely different from mine.

FB: That’s irrelevant. Besides, you know Carmen is there.

CT: Oh good lord. You cant be serious Flex? Daedalus? YOU are going to let a woman drag into back to Turkey?? I thought you two were through!

D: Its complicated.

CT: Complicated?!? No, getting tortured in a Turkish prison in complicated, those bastards are creative. That damned devious wench of yours can meet us in Cairo if she wants. Besides Jacques should be there too.

D: Well we do need Jacques, I have a feeling things are doing to get a bit dicey when we reach the Mediterranean. I would be surprised if the Kaiser didn’t try to pull something.

FB: Hah! Id like to see those Hun bastards try and stop and us!

D: Well regardless, we need to go to Istanbul. Theres no way around it. Coyne, we can leave you in Cairo if you want, or Baghdad.

CT: Oh tits and chocolates Daedalus, you know me better than that. Im just saying, the Turks are more likely to throw their fancy flavored coffee in your face than give you a welcome and pass the hookah pipe. As for Flex, last I heard whoever brings him in to the Sultan gets to choose one of the girls from the old boy’s harem. Heh, who knows? I might go for a

FB: Coyne, if I so much as catch you doing something suspicious while we’re there you better believe you wont see daylight.

CT: Joking Flex, joking.

D: Alright, well it seems like we have our next few stages planned out and--

W: (I) Captain! Winters here! We’re being chased by Sky pirates!!!

D: really? Weve got to make Japanese airspace! They wont dare follow us there!

JD: Whats happening captain? ……

Japanese guy: Oh Johnny Thundaface boy adventurer, and the gweat captain Day-dah-wus

Daudelus: Leutenent, we need to see Professor Meriweather right away.

Japanese guy: Right this way, captain Daydawus!

Meriweather: Oh welcome to my lab , I’m glad you came. I heard about the race over the wireless, they don’t let me outside.

Daedelus: We need you to outfit our zeppelin, needs to be battle, weve got Brazilian Sky Pirates on us.

Meriweather: I think I know just the things. Oh! Well we’ve been working on this new 40 mm antiaircraft gun plus we’ve got the new 50 cal’s and some 20mm stuff. Oh and I have this new canning device that could

Daedelus: Sounds like it’ll do the trick. Merriweather, I need you on the Pegasus.

Meriweather: I’d would love to Daedelus, trouble is, these damn Japs have me on a pretty short leash, can’t hardly go out for sushi without a government escort.

Daedelus: Well that’s damned unlucky, lets get the zeppelin outfitted.

Johnny: Wow! There you have a lot of nifty stuff Mr. Meriweather

Dadelus: That’s Professor Meriweather Johnny

Johnny: You seem really good with mechanical stuff, could you fix my pencil sharpener?

Meriweather: Well I don’t know that I have time right now, but I might be able to offer you a replacement.

JD: Really? What kind? Mine was a pretty nice one my mom gave me,

M: Hmm, cant top that, but I have this combination pencil sharpener flare gun I made last month during a lunch break.

JD: That sounds dangerous

M: Indeed! It would be quite dangerous in the hands one of my asian assistants, but you’re a boy adventurer!

Lefty: What about me?

M: Why not? Youre just a kid, what harm could there be?

Cut scene to bar
(walking)

FB: Any luck so far Coyne?

CT: Damned if Ive found anything. These bloody japs only talk about sumo wrestling and geisha girls. Five bars, five failures. Id say just one more and then we call it quits.

FB: Im with ya Coyne. These durned Chinamen are just plain a nuisance.

CT: Theyre Japanese Flex, please. Gotta say this sake stuff is pretty good though. Might as well tally up a few business expenses eh?

FB: I like youre style coyne. This place looks promising. Lets go get drunk.

CT: Right o!
(door)

Waiter – Wat can I get fow you gentlemennn

CT: 6 heated sakes please.

FB: Good call.

CT: Thanks Flex. Hey, these two blokes seem odd to you?

FB: Yea, theyre the only gents in here don’t smell like chinamen.

CT: Damnit, its japs Flex.

FB: Whatever.

CT: No, but listen, theyre talking about the race…..

B1: You hear that Pegasus landed here today?

B2: I did, that only puts them about a day behind Wotansraven. I think Pegasus got caught in that storm near Hawaii.

B1: Yea, but Wotansraven is holed in Bangkok with some sort of diplomatic delay. I hear Bettington had something to do with it – called in a favor with the Thai foreign minister or something.

B2: Trying to keep the race close I suppose. You know things could get a bit sticky when they hit Europe. The Kaiser’s not too keen on the Firm. Not sure that Yank captain on Pegasus is either.

B1: Well its only natural, with his dead son and all. You know the story with Bettington and all, the French Alps explosion.

B2: quite right quite right.

B1: Bettington made out good on that race too…funny how things work out.

B2: indeed, well you know bettington has this worked pretty well too, got an inside man on both sides

(evil laughing)

FB: Why that son of a bitch.

CT: Steady Flex, we don’t want to give anything away.

FB: But that lousy, good for nothing, son of a

JD: THERE YOU TWO ARE!!! Weve been looking all over town for you!

D: Lets go men, back to the zeppelin.

CT: Quick Flex lets go before these chaps get wise.

FB: BUT BUT I WANNA POUND SOMEBODY!

CT: I know you Flex, but lets save it for later shall we?

FB: Fine, but you better clear my path of chinamen or they wont know what hit em.

Ovaltine ad

(Back at the zeppelin)

M: Well Daedalus, the overhaul is good and done! By the way, took the liberty of installing a few other gadgets that might come in handy on your great race! Im sure you’ll find them. Oh, and the weapons are all set too. Good stores of ammunition and of course, my signature warrantee.

D: Excellent Merriweather. Good work, still sure you cant join us?

M: Yes yes, im afraid so. I even filled out a permission form. Which was denied before I submitted it.

JD: Thanks for the pencil sharpener professor!

M: Of course my boy! Of course! Im sure it will be quite ..illuminating!!

CT: Illuminating? Pencil sharpener? Any idea Flex?

FB: you got me, coyne, but then again, who woulda thought room humidifier and rocket launcher?

CT: True that, truee that.

JD: Captain! We need to go! Jeffries said hes getting impatient to heat things up with the boiler.

Lefty: Oooh boy!!!

CT: Unbloodybelievable.

D: Well, Barnaby. Its time we go. There are Huns to catch and races to win.

M: And sky pirates to blast!
(engines start)

D: Give my regards to the emperor! And tell him he’s an ass for not letting you come!

M: Oh oh I will indeed! Good luck and good shooting!

Gives pencil sharpener flare gun.
MCM: Kyoto 20 miles out captain! (I)

D: Roger that. (I)

D:(R) Come in Kyoto, this is the Captain Daedalus on zeppelin Pegasus. Request clearance for landing.

K (R) Woger Captan Day-da-wus. You a kweyed for wanding!

D: (R) Thank you Kyoto.

K(R) No! Tank you! Captan Day-da-wus. Welcome to Japan!

D: (I) Johnny, Lefty, get back up here!

JD: (I) aye aye captain!

(door opens)

Boys: Were back!

D: Great. Now we need find Merriweather as fast as possible. Wotansraven is probably already ahead of us, although we dont if they got caught in the storm.

CT: I think Merriweather has his facility outside town, near the military aerodrome.

Johnny: Who is this Mr. Merriweather person anyways?

D: Professor Merriweather, Johnny. He was our resident tinkerer.

Jeffries: You mean our resident nut-job.

CT: HE DID always have a propensity for rather odd gadgets. Remember that room humidifier slash rocket launcher he built for the Canadians?

FB: Haha I remember I blew up a caribou in the Yukon with that. It was great too because it was really dry in that bunker. Pity he wasted so much time on that amphibious bicycle though, I always did think it was a kinda neat idea.

D: Thank you for that wonderful anecdote Flex. Heres the zeppelin port. Im putting her down.

J: Well, its about time I go back and keep her good and lubed! (door closes)

JD: Mr. Jeffries is such a thorough engineer!

CT: Oh god, you've got to be kidding me.

(landing)

D: Coyne and Flex, you go out into town to see what you can find out about Wotansraven.

CT: Rightio skipper!

FB (almost same): You got it Daedalus.

D: Johnny and Lefty, you come with me. Were gonna go, round up Merriweather and get Pegasus fitted out.

BM (R): Pegasus! come in Pegasus!
DD: Merriweather? What is he doing here?
BM: I've got a squadron of Sky Pirates on my tail! You'd better get ready for a fight!

(Airplane sounds, machinegun fire)

MCM (intercom) Captain! Were under attack! We have visual on five planes out there!

DD: All hands man your stations! Prepare for dirigibattle!
JD: Whats happening captain?
D: Its brazilian sky pirates Johnny! The scourge of the skies! Johnny Take lefty down to the hangar bay, its safer there.
Johnny: But Captain Daedelus, I-
D: Thats quite enough Johnny, its far to dangerous.
Johnny: (begrudgingly) Lets go Lefty..
FB: haHA! This is going to be a great day!
(Gunfire, intercom chatter, general chaos)

D: Hard to port!! Take her up to 20000 feet, they cant follow us there!
J: Capn, were takin damage, we might not make it!
FB (intercom) HAHAHAHAH GOT ONE!!! Going down in flames!

(Battle sounds die down and scene shifts to hangar bay)
Winters: Alright men! Lets scramble those biplanes!

(biplane startingsounds)

Winters: Cathcart! You'll be piloting the Number 2. Looks like the Number 3's not going to be seeing any action today.

Lefty: Look! Johnny! It looks like there aren't enough pilots to use all the biplanes!
Johnny: Lefty, I think its time to show them what we're made of. Lets get the stool!

(dragging sound, followed by plane starting sound)

Johnny: For adventure
Lefty: Oh boy!

(Back to main battle perspective)

Deadelus: 10 degrees to port! over.
Jeffries: She's running like a bute captain. over.
Coyne: Got two bloody maccacos dragging their tits port aft. over.
Johnny: Roger that Mr. Tarkington! I'll take care of it!....oh, um over.
Coyne: Come in skipper,

Coyne: um, who the bloody hell was that.
Johnny: Johnny Dangerfist! Boy Adventurer!...oh, over.
Lefty: (echoed) oh boy! over.
Flex: Dammin kid, pay attention before you get chewed to bits.
Lefty: Oh no!
Deadeuls: Well dammit, how many are left? over.
Coyne: One of the port side skipper. over
Meriweather (I): One diving from above, but looks like he's making a run for the deck. over.
Lefty (I): There's one chancing us.
Johnny (I) : Lefty, you have say over. over.
Lefty (I): ooooh....over.
Coyne: Johnny, if you can bring that bloody tugga past over to the port turret I should be able to pick him off with the (whatever gun he's using)
(explosion sound)
Johnny: Roger that Coyne! Over.
Coyne: Holy shit, what was that!
Lefty: Mr. Winter's flare gun?....over?
coyne: Well skipper, tits on christmas. over
Daedelus: Alright gents. Good job. Winters stand by to recover planes. over.

The Honolulu Typhoon (Final Version)

The Honolulu Typhoon

JD: Last time on Johnny Dangerfist: Play clip

Intro

Narrator:
The impressive around-the-world race took Pegasus west over the Pacific and the two zeppelins quickly lost one another in the dark of night over the ocean. Daedalus and his crew had flown over this stretch of water before and they settled into a calm. Pegasus was an older zeppelin but had been carefully maintained and upgraded by the engineer Jeffries. In the meantime, the initial excitement of the race and San Francisco had worn off and it was replaced by the monotony of trans-ocean travel. Johnny and Lefty struggled to find entertainment and wandered down to the propulsion plant to look for diversion. It was a strange world inhabited by a strange man who seemed really to like his engines

JD: Well Lefty, I’m getting pretty bored again. What should we do?

Lefty: We could go find Mr. Tarkington and ask him to tell us another story. He has lots of stories.

JD: He does have lots of stories, but I think he’s sleeping Lefty…..I know!! Lets go visit Mr. Jeffries in the engine room! Ive never been down there.

Lefty: It seems dangerous Johnny, isn’t it dark and scary?

JD: Just don’t touch anything Lefty, you know why.

L: I know, I know, I’m left-handed.

(Steps, machinery noises, reactor noise getting louder, wrench sound, door opens everything louder)

JD: Hello Jeffries!

J: Ello boys! What brings you down here?

JD + Lefty: We’re bored.

J: Well you’ come to the raight plaice! Just stan in that corner there and don’t touch ANYTHIN!

JD: Umm ok.

(clanking noise)

Lefty: What does this do Jeffries?

J: That’s a wrench Lefty, put it down.

Lefty: What about this?

J: Thats the steam valve! Be careful!! Its hot!

JD: Is this a gun??

J: No that’s weldin’ torch. Put it down!!! Damnit lads, you don’t see me comin round to your rooms and touchin everything do ya?? “whats this? Whats this? What does this do? What ‘oes this do?”

Lefty: Wait, wait, Jeffries. What DOES this do? Is this a reactor??

J: Haggis and scotch boy, that’s a coffee maker!!

Lefty: And what does it do?

J: It. Makes. Coffee.

L: Oh, well why didn’t you say that?

J: Lads I think its time you go.

JD: Cmon Lefty, I guess we better go. I told you not to touch anything.

L: Oh gee Johnny, I was just curious.

JD: Yea, well remember what happened last time you were curious? at the museum?

L: (sigh) yeesss.

(Steps, door, engine room receeding)

Narrator: The Pegasus sped through the night. But as the zeppelin neared Hawaii a north Pacific storm had engulfed our heroes. The crew were shaken from their relaxation and ran to man their stations. Daedalus had seen many a storm in his day, but this was one of the worst. Johnny and Lefty ran to the bridge.

(Running, door slams, chatter on the bridge and stormy)

D: Maintain your heading there! We don’t want to miss the islands!!

MSC: Captain! Weve got several tears along the starboard side!! She’s taking a beating!

D: Understood. (over intercom) Jeffries, I need you on the bridge.

J: Aye aye capn!

(Major crash, sounds of equipment falling, Lefty shouts)

J: ello Captain. Bit of a tickle eh?

Tarkington: You could say that, it’s a real pacific tit teaser!!

D: Steady boys, gusts from the north. Stay on course!!

JD: Is the Pegasus going to make it?

J: She may be old, but she’s sassy!

T: Oh lord Jeffries. Must you?

J: You know it as much as anyone Tarkington.

D: Jeffries, I need every bit of juice we can get out of her! We gotta make Honolulu before this typhoon shreds us!

J: I think the old girl has a bit more milk for us!

T: Good god man!

D: Coyne! Go have a look at the aft damage.

T: You got it Skipper.

JD: Captain what can I do?

D: Well you can go get Lefty out from behind that fallen radio for starters.

JD: Oh no! Lefty!

L: Im ok Johnny. Just move it so I can get out.

(Intercom Jeffries: Capn, jeffries here. I think I got us a few more knots!)

(Int D: Thank you jeffries.)

D: Ill take the helm now.

MSC: aye aye captain.

D: Where’s Brawnman?
JD: I think he’s sleeping in the aft storage hub Captain!

D: Lefty! Go get Flex and bring him back up here!

L: Really??!!?? Aye aye captain!

D: Yes, now hurry up before I change my mind!

Wireless: This is Honolulu Zeppelin Port calling inbound zeppelin, identify yourself please. over

D: (w) Hello Honolulu, this is Drake Daedalus with Pegasus. Request emergency approach clearance. over

Wireless: Roger that, you are cleared. You better get that crate of yours on the deck, this typhoon is only getting worse! over

D: (w) Yes, thank you Honolulu. over (off air) Ya think? What does this look like? A summer drizzle?

JD: It looks like a typhoon to me captain!

(BIG CRASHING SOUND)

Tarkington (over intercom): Uhhh Skipper, Coyne here. I think we just lost the aft storage hub.

D (int): Damnit Coyne! Were Flex and Lefty in there?

T: Umm rather, yes.

D: Where theres the zeppelin port im gonna get Pegasus down on the deck.

(Crash landing sound, rain calm)

Daedelus: Whats the damage Jeffries?

Jeffires: Well Cap’n, our starboard fusion moderator is done for. As for the storage hub, it should float, for a couple of hours at least. But we won't be able to take off and look for it until we find a moderator. Not going to be easy either, you don’t find class 5 moderators just lyin around.

Tarkington: Well chaps, best I figure we're straight up sticky tits, sideways one of you can buggle a class five moderator north of yur arse. As for Brawnman, bloody ell if I thought he’d go out drowning.

DD: I wouldn't count Brawnman out, I've seen that man fight his way out of a turkish whorehouse and through have a regiment of janissaries. If I was a gambling man I'd bet the tide is already turning in favor of old Flex. Tarkington, you wouldn't happen to have kept in contact with any of your old mates from the Mahalo excavation would you?

Tarkington: Be honest I ahven't been back 'eya since wee lad. Nobody but the bloody natives really care for the old stuff anymore, and you'd be better off not buggering around with them. Most of the proper dirt dusters right packed up after Kilaeua lost 'er temper aynway. Last I heard that my old Aussie mate Wally McBruce was running a smuggling operation on the north bit of Maui. He might be able to help us out. Wouldn't mind catching up with the old bugger actually.

Jeffries: McBruce? You've gotta be kidding me, i would trust that damn smuggler less than one of Flex's turkish whores.

CT: He's not like that Jeffries, Ol' Bruccies's saved my ass more times'n I can figure. Why back when I was still smuggling...

Daedelus: Its not like we've got a lot of options Jeffries. If you'd prefer you could stay and do what repair work you can. We better get one of the biplanes an' at least pay this Wally character a visit.

CT: 'Ats the spirit skipper! C'mon Johnny, we're going to go see one of my old scumbag friends!

Johnny: Oh boy!

D: (Int) Winters, daedalus here. Can you get number 1 ready to go?

W: (int) roger that captain, its already fueled, ill just start the engine for ya

D: (int) thanks. (to others) alright lets get to the hanger bay

(Scene cut to the storage hub, which is slowly filling with water.)

RB: Keep scooping boy! She's taking one hellova drink fer a lady her size.

Lefty: I'm tired, and my shoes are getting wet. What if pirates attack us?

FB: There are no pirates around here boy, only smugglers. Not that there much better. Either way a whole lot more of you's gonna be wet. Now start putting some muscle into that bucket 'a yours.

Lefty: But i'm soooo tired

FB: You keep scooping or I'll box your ears.

Lefty: (scared) right

FB: RIGHT!

CT: Righto well that’s water under the bridge eh? No harm done.

WM: Uh huh, no harm done. Just two years in a Nicaraguan prison. I've 'alf a mind to kill you and take back the bloody ring. Those smugglers still show up from time to time tryin' a buy your 'ed

CT: An' what do you tell em?

WM: I told em that i'd give it to 'em if I thought they'd find anything interestin' inside of it. (both men laugh) Coyne, you're a tough bloke ta stay buggahd with. Lets go inside and drown ourselves in cheap navy rum.

***heavy door slams roudy bootlegger sounds***

DD: Johnny, you stay here, the grownups have some business we have to take care of out back.

Bartender: What'll it be boy?

JD: Rich Chocolate Ovaltine please!

Bartender: Steaming hot or ice cold? Ovaltine is great either way!

JD: I take my Rich Chocolate Ovaltine ice cold!

***sound of glass hitting the counter)

Smuggler Captain: Ahoy there boy! Whatya be drinken?

JD: Uhh ovaltine?

SC: A drink fit for any adventurer! (slam on table) What be your business here in the islands?

JD: Umm engine parts? What about you?

SC: Me an me crew are just here looking for a bit of swashbuckling revenge.

JD: Oh wow are you a smuggler?

SC: Aye, laddie and you better watch yourself (laughs and go away)

Flashcut to back to sinking compartment

FB: Well lefty, its starting to look like we're going to have to swim for it.

Lefty: Oh no! I cant swim!

***Engine sounds***

FB: Hey indigenous fishermen! Looks like you might not have to swim afterall

Lefty: Oh my shoes! Were saved!

(voices)

WM: Lets cut down to brass tax eh Coyne, what brought you back?

CT: Be honest, we've found ourself in straight up Barney. Brawnman’s lost out at sea and our airship is right sixes without a new class five moderator.

WM: Class five's a rare breed these days, but it just so happens I might be able to help.

D: That’s the first good thing ive heard all day.
CT: I guess I owe you one Brucy. Lets grab Johnny and go.

WM: Ill meet you outside at my Rover. Its parked out back. I need to say goodbye to somebody at the bar.

(door closes/steps)

D: you sure you trust this guy Coyne?

T: From here to China Daedalus.

(door opens)

WM: Alright mates lets get your class 5. My warehouse is down by the wharf.

(engine starts drive off)

***Metal thudding to ground

WM: Heres your bloody moderator.

CT: McBruce, I really can't thank you enough.

WM: Well, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions mate.
***gun sounds, in my head I hear shotguns getting cocked***

Smuggler: Aye, Mr. Tarkington, its been quite a while.

CT: damn your eyes! You sold me to the smugglers Brucy? What was the price?

WM: This doesn't have to end like this, Coyne, just give me the ring.

CT: Well it just so happens I don’t have it on me.

WM: Don’t even try it Coyne, I know you carry it everywhere with you.

CT: Alright you can have the bloody ring, but we're going to take the class 5.

WM: Ok, but you have to pay off the smugglers too.

JD (whispering) You’re really going to give him your ring Mr. Tarkington?

CT (whispering): You see Johnny, sometimes its ok to lie. As long as the man you're lying to is an Australian.

WM: Well lets get on with it!

(sound of boat pulling up to wharf – jumping out)

Smugglers: Oh no! Indigenous fisherman!

FB: Well looky here Lefty, looks like we found some smugglers after all!

JD: Lefty! Youre safe!

L: Johnny!

D: See Coyne? I didn’t think Flex could drown, not when theres a fight brewing and Turkish whores still to be had.

CT: Alright McBruce, the game is up. we’ll be taking the class 5 and being on our way, and no funny business!

WM: Not so fast Coyne! Let’s get em mates!

FB: That’s a bad idea smuggler scum!

(chorus of shouts and gunshots)

D: Everyone ok?

JD: Lefty and me are!

CT: Just a scratch here, wheres Brawnman?

FB (shouting getting louder e.g. closer): That’s right cowards!! You better run! Next time all bash all your heads in!

D: You ok Flex?

FB: Me? Course im ok! Who do you think I am Daedalus?? I just had to chase one of those bastards down, tried to shoot me if you can believe it.

JD: Did you get him?

FB: Course I did boy! He wont be shooting anyone any time soon.

CT: Looks like McBruce got away. I 'ave a feeling this isn't the last time we'll have to deal with that conniving Aussie.

D: Alright, lets get the damn class 5 and get the hell back to the Pegasus. That’s more than enough adventure for one day.

JD: Hiho Jeffries! We've got you your part!

J: Alright, I'll have this old girl up in the air in no time!

***engines start***

CT: You know Daedelus, these small fry smugglers today got me thinking, I've heard there's a nasty little band of sky pirates brewing quite a kettle of trouble over the South China Sea and we'll need to be ready if that kettle starts to whistle.

Lefty: Oh no sky Pirates! The worst kind!

FB: Bring 'em on! I've tasted blood today an' I'm hungry for more.

CT: I suppose we could probably pay Meriwhether a visit? He always was the best in the world at making weapons and such. I hear the emperor's got the old chap's knickers nailed down pretty tight. But no harm in trying I guess.

D: A capital idea Coyne. I think its about time we outfitted the pegasus with some armaments, Jeffries! Set course for Kyoto Japan!

J: Aye Aye Captain!

JD: Next time on Johnny Dangerfist!

Warning sirens

D: All hands man your battle-stations! Prepare for dirigibattle!

J: Who's attacking captain?

D: Its brazilian sky pirates Johnny! The scourge of the skies!

FB: Haha! This is going to be a great day!

Sky Pirates over the China Sea

Ideas!

1: A couple notes
-Just jotted down a couple ideas for a script for Chapter 3, we can really take it in any direction though
-I would prefer to tie up loose ends from last chapter as the 2 chapters are going to run back to back (i understand you feel differently, lets just see how it plays out)
-I messaged Chris L. and we are currently talking to try to figure out a scheduled/official recording slot or at least to update the WVFI schedule.

Chapter 3

1) Peaceful operations over the china sea and a discussion of the wonders of the Eastern world, perhaps talk about previous adventures. Heavy foreshadowing/ self referential.

3) Suddenly sky pirates attack. "PREPARE FOR DIRIGIBATTLE!"

4) Brief discussion of the notoriety of the Brazilian sky pirates during the attack. Also discuss how the Pegasus is not properly prepared for battle.

"She's built to make love, not war"
"She's a love boat not a battleship"

5) Perhaps ship will have to retreat? I don't know how I feel about it getting shot down again so soon after the Hurricane.

Comercial (provided by Kirsten)

6) Introduction of Meriweather (irish, or scandinavian, or italian?) and a reason why he can't join them. Perhaps he is indebted to the Emperor, perhaps he has a family? Anyway so maybe don't end up taking Meriweather but instead his spunky young (mid 20's to early 30's) apprentice/son who speaks in a _____ accent. I do know that I want Johnny and Lefty to bring resolution to the plot. Perhaps they persuade the Child Emperor to change his mind. Ohhh, I like the idea of a child emperor and Johnny and Lefty making his acquaintance and teaching him a deep personal lesson and ultimately he gives them a gift or free's somebody.

7) Lesson/advice moment.

8) Sky pirate battle. Perhaps leave it on a cliff hanger.

Episode 2: Part 2

Aftermath from the crash

Daedelus: Whats the damage Jeffries?

Jeffires: Well best I can figure Lefty and Brawnmen were in the storage hub when it got knocked off. It should float, for a couple of hours at least, but we won't be able to take off and look for it until we find a new fuel pump. Not going to be easy either, The Pegasus is a rare breed sir.

Tarkington: Well chaps, best I figure we're straight up sticky toffee, sideways (sideways in this context means 'unless') one of you can buggle a class five bloody fuel pump north of yur arse. No need to get all lemon and lime over Brawnman, bloody barbarian had it comming, never thought it would be drowning though.

DD: I wouldn't count Brawnman out, I've seen that man fight his way out of a turkish whorehouse, and if I was a gambling man I'd bet that tide are already turning in favor of old Flex Brawnman. Tarkington, you wouldn't happen to have kept in contact with any of your old mates from the Mahalo excavation would you?

Tarkington: Be honest i ahven't been back 'eya since I was a wee kid, nobody but the bloody natives really care for the old stuff anymore, and you'd be better off not buggering around with them. Most of the proper dirt dusters right packed up after Kilaeua lost 'er temper aynway. Last I heard Wally McBruce's old bag was running a bootleg joint just north of Maui. Wouldn't mind catching up with the old bastard actually.

Jeffries: McBruce? You've gotta be kidding me, i wouldn't trust that damn smugglers more than one of Flex's turkish whores.

CT: He's not like that Jeffries, Ol' Bruccies's saved my ass more times'n I can figure. Why back when I was still smuggling...

Daedelus: Its not like we've got a lot of options Jeffires. If you'd prefer you could stay and do what repair work you can. The old biplane should still be in working condition, perhaps we should dust it off an' at least pay this Wally character a visit.

CT: 'Ats the spirit Daedelus! C'mon Johnny, we're going to go see one of my old scumbag friends!

Johnny: Oh boy!

(Scene cut to the storage hub, which is slowly filling with water.)

RB: Keep scooping boy! She's taking one hellova drink fer a lady her size.

Lefty: I'm tired, and my shoes are getting wet.

FB: And a whole lot more of you's gonna be wet soon if you don't start putting some muscle into bucket 'a yours.

Lefty: But i'm soooo tired

FB: You keep scooping or I'll box your ears

Lefty: (scared) right

FB: RIGHT!

***Cut back to show theme song or to 1960's era ambient instrumental***

Naration: "And the plot thickens! Thickens like rich chocolate Ovaltien! Ovaltien! Fortified with vitamins and minerals for the growing boy adventurer! Rich chocolate Ovaltien! Official sponsor of Johnny Dangerfist boy adventurer.

***Play a bit of the theme song***
***Prop Plane Landing at mansion***
***Heavy thud as men jump from plane

CT: Why this place hasn't changed one bit! It looks just like it did when I was a kid.

WM: (heavy australian accent) Hello Daedlus (said with disgust) I see you're hanging around with this loser.

CT: whats it to you? Bit of a surprise seeing you 'ere, last I 'eard you were rotting in Venezualan prison.

WM: And yet 'ere I stand. You got some nerve showing your face here you little rippa, what afta letting me take the heat fa' that right spectacle you pulled in Venezuala. I've 'alf a mind to kill you and take back the bloody ring. Bloody pirates still show up from time to time tryin' a buy your 'ed

CT: An' what do you tell em?

WM: I told em that i'd give it to 'em if I though they'd find anything interestin' inside of it, both men laugh) Coyne, you're a tough bloke ta stay buggahd with. Lets go inside and drown ourselves in cheap navy rum.

***door slams roudy bootlegger sounds***

DD: Johnny, you stay here, the grownups have some business we have to take care of out back.

Bartender: What'll it be boy?

JD: Rich Chocolate Ovaltine please!

Bartender: Steaming hot or ice cold? Ovaltine is great either way!

JD: I take my Rich Chocolate Ovaltine ice cold please!

***sound of glass hitting the counter)

JM: (also australian) G'day mate! Joey Mcbrucy, Boy Adventurer, make ya'quaintence.

JD: Ow wow! another boy adventurer! What kind of adventures do you go on?

JM: I go on all kinds of adventures. I've met Mercenaries, swashbucklers, pirates, chinamen. (pending)

Pirate Captain: Ello there Joey, mind if I have a look at the those blow darts ya' found in Brazil.

JM: Do I ever!

JD: Oh wow! Real pirates, this is exciting!

Flashcut to back to sinking compartment

FB: Well lefty, its starting to look like we're going to have to swim for it.

Lefty: (line)

***Engine sounds***

FB: Hawaiian fishermen, looks like this could be our lucky day.

(shotglasses slam on table bootlegger music comes back)

WM: Lets cut down to brass tax eh Coyne, you aven't been back ere since you got caught picking pockets, what brought you back?

CT: Be honest, we've found ourself in straight up Barney. Brawnman lost out at sea and our airship is right sixes without a new class five.

WM: Class five's a rare breed these days, shops round here probably wouldn't have have it. There's an old airfield down on the water, I'd go two up that you'd find a class five if you were willing to tear up a coupla old birds.

CT: I do owe you, you bloody Boogen. Lets grab Johnny and go.

WM: One second, I need to say goodbye to somebody at the bar.

Travel Transition, maybe another Ovaltien comercial.

***Waves on the beach***

DD: It sad to see so many great airships in such disrepair.

CT: And someday the world won't have need for relics like us either Daedelus.

***Metal thudding to ground

WM: Well mates it may not be a class five mate, but it should get you gents where you need to go.

CT: McBruce, I really can't thank you enough.

DD: And here I thought he was going to turn on us.

WM: Well its certainly not too late for that mates!

***gun sounds, in my head I hear shotguns getting cocked***

Pirate: Ah, Mr. Tarkington, its been quite a while. (needs to sound 'more piratey')

CT: You sold me to the Pirates Wally? What was the price?

WM: This doesn't have to end like this, Coyne, just give me the ring.

CT: Never!

***Motor sounds***

(I see the fishing boats catching the pirates in their fishing nets)

End of the episode confession/reconciliation scene

Johnny: Well gee Mr. Tarkington I'm really sorry you had to give away your Aztec ring.

CT: You don't mean this ring do you Johnny?

(sound of silver falling on a table)

CT: Between Vlad and I, I was always the better smuggler. You see Johnny, sometimes its ok to lie. As long as the man you're lying to is Australian.

(Dramatic takeoff scene)

The Honolulu Typhoon

The Honolulu Typhoon

In the meantime, initial excitement of the race and San Francisco had worn off and it was replaced by the monotony of trans-ocean travel. Johnny and Lefty struggled to find entertainment and wandered down to the propulsion plant to look for diversion. It was a strange world inhabited by a strange man who seemed really to like his engines.

JD: We’re bored.

Whats this? What does this do?”

J: Lads I think its time you go, before I THROW YOU OFF THE ZEPPELIN!!

T: You got it Daedalus.

JD: Captain what can I do?

D: Well you can go get Lefty out from behind that fallen radio for starters.

JD: Oh no! Lefty!

L: Im ok Johnny. Just move it so I can get out.

(Intercom Jeffries: Capn, I think I got us a few more knots!)

(Int D: Thank you jeffries.)

D: Ill take the helm now.

MSC: aye aye captain.

Wireless: This is Honolulu Zeppelin Port calling inbound zeppelin, identify yourself please.

D: (w) Hello Honolulu, this is Drake Daedalus with Pegasus. Request emergency approach clearance.

Wireless: Roger that, you are cleared. You better get that crate of yours on the deck, this typhoon is only getting worse!

D: (w) Yes, thank you Honolulu. (off air) Ya think? What does this look like? A summer drizzle?

JD: It looks like a typhoon to me!

(door slams)

FB: Daedalus!! Weve spotted Honolulu off the port side! I also think I saw Wotansraven (said very American) descending to starboard. I almost blew off their tail with the anti-aircraft guns, it was so tempting.

D: Thanks Flex, save the aggression for later though. You’ll get your chance.

FB: Your damn straight I will! That Hun baron is gonna pay for his meddling!
